Built for practical application.
Create forward liquidity visibility, identify pressure periods early, and investigate material forecast misses rather than silently overwriting assumptions.
A focused 13-week liquidity planning system for business owners who need to see when cash is expected to enter and leave the business. The model rolls cash forward week by week, tracks customer collections and other inflows, categorizes vendor, payroll, rent, debt, tax and other outflows, and compares projected ending cash with a minimum cash buffer.
Putting this resource to work
Suggested workflow based on the resource’s published scope. Adapt it to your organization and review the included instructions before use.
Before you begin
Reconcile the opening cash balance and gather expected collection dates, payroll, supplier payments, debt service, tax payments, and other receipts or obligations. Use expected cash dates rather than the date an invoice was issued.
Suggested workflow
Build the weekly forecast, then examine ending cash against your minimum buffer. Pay particular attention to weeks where collections arrive after major payments. At each review, compare the previous forecast with actual cash movements and record why timing or amounts changed before updating assumptions.
Review before relying on the result
A projected balance depends on the accuracy of receipts and payments. Keep uncertain collections visible and have the responsible finance reviewer challenge the forecast before using it to make funding or payment commitments.
